‘Rebirth’ is simply a stunning neo soul, jazz and world music album.
Osunlade is an inimitable artist, a highly creative individual that brings together all of his passions art, music and life together with every project he undertakes. A classically trained musician, he takes inspiration from his travels and his philosophies taking time to learn the local instruments and master their sounds. Deeply spiritual, his music reflects his life, loves and experiences.
In 1999 he founded Yoruba. Recognised as one of the most important dance labels worldwide, Yoruba is purely a source of music created to elevate the spirit and embodies everything Osunlade represents.
Rebirth is his fourth solo artist album, a collection of tracks that he has worked on from as early as 1994 and has revisited remixed and perfected over time. The result is a deeply personal, acoustic album, completely different, full of passion and emotion that can be played anywhere.
This album is a superb showcase for his eclectic sound beyond dance music – spanning Soul, Jazz, House and World music. Solely written, produced, arranged and sung by Osunlade himself and recorded with a live 9 piece band, this unique artist album heralds a new era as an all round artist.
Highlights include the previously released ‘The Dating Game’ as well as ‘Butterfly’ with its jazz and soul influence, tipped as the first single release from the album as well as the more danceable ‘Break It Down’.
