I’m not witnessing stadium rock or stadium love, like pop band Metric’s new song depicts in their newest album. No - Instead I’m witnessing stadium techno. It’s Saturday night, May 24th 2009 in Detroit, and Carl Cox is playing some pounding techno anthems to a crowd of fans with their hands in the air, fists pumping, feet moving and heads bouncing.
The Ibiza season for 2009 officially kick started this weekend, with all the big clubs opening their doors for the summer (except poor old DC10). Here in this video produced by our friends from We Love, we see what it’s like to actually live in Ibiza from some of the island’s most famous ex-pats.

Three weeks ago I met Beatportal’s Terry Church in Chicago. After enjoying enough vodka and tequila to kill a medium sized animal we came up with the idea for me to do a monthly Beatpotal blog where I’d write about house music trends and tracks that excite me.
Because I’ve been involved in the house scene for over 18 years I thought it would be cool if I tied hot new tracks to older music that they might relate to. I want to connect the present to the past by illustrating patterns in house music and tracing circles of style and creativity. That’s where we got the name House Music Circles.
So, here’s my thoughts on house music this month.
