NAYO (nigh-awh) born Temitope Odunayo Abidoye in Lagos, Nigeria arose from the tragedy of losing her father because of the power of music, faith and hope. Amidst the harsh realities of her troubled nation whilst grooving along to Astrud Gilberto, Sade, politically charged lyrics of Nigeria’s own Fela Kuti and Bob Marley, Nayo looked inward and sought to turn around her tragedy into something positive. With this renewed sense of determination, she relocated to the UK shortly after and released her debut single African Girl in 2007 along with remixes, which immediately found its way to Number 11 on the UK Top 40 Club Charts and onto Ministry of Sound’s – HedKandi Serve Chilled compilation.

Dubbed as the ‘New Sade‘ by The Independent, Nayo is now poised for even greater heights with her new single Desert Storm (from her debut album, African Girl) – an ode to the Sahara about the phenomenon of inescapable attraction. Co-written with KK (Dido, Kyle Minogue) and coupled with influences of jazz, trip hop and bossanova, Desert Storm is definitely a hit-storm to melt away the winter blues.

This is your chance to get recognised as a great remixer. Your remix will be judged by a panel from DMC and Fyro Music (www.nayomusic.com), then the top 3 or 5 remixes will be posted online for the public to vote upon.

The Prize: This is a fantastic opportunity for you to take the Vocal & Guitar parts from Nayo’s brand new track ‘Desert Storm’ (Released on the 15th November) and mash up your own remixed version. The parts consist of Acapella Vocals along with Acoustic & Electric Guitar samples from the track which give any remixer excellent scope for producing blinding tracks from all genres.

The winner of the competition will have their remix commercially available on download along with the chance to be Included on the next Hugely Successful Hed Kandi Compilation Album.
